Measuring 7.5 inches with a 4” blade, this quality sheath was made in Scotland. The aged look will complement any great kilt or ancient kilt. You will feel like you’ve traveled back in time with the rustic wood handle.
Part of an authentic Scottish outfit, the Sgian Dubh was worn tucked into the top of a kilt hose and used to prepare and eat biadh (food). It is worn on the same side as your dominant hand. Historians theorize that the secondary meaning of dubh (hidden) is used as the handle of the Sgian Dubh was the only part showing.

Surprisingly nice little knife for the money.
Sharp enough to cut your steak.

Great little knife for the price! I bought it to wear with my historic Scottish women’s costume & arisaid. It’s the perfect size to stick in the belt comfortably.

John –
Very cool looking knife. I used mine as a Sgian Dubh, and actually got a few compliments on the wooden handle.
The blade on my knife was dull (it had never been sharpened) and the point was flat (for safety). Another comment mentioned that the knife was sharp but mine was not, so beware that yours may be dull when it arrives.

My blade had a rough ground edge that was sharp enough to cut paper but enough to alarm festival organizers. The wood handle seemed to be walnut and th brass pommel and guard were hand cast but nicely finished. The handle showed some sanding marks but you had to look closely to see those. Overall, a fine blade for the price. The scabbard was excellent; embossing was clean and deep enough to show the patterns clearly; the leather was a good quality. I’m proud to wear it with my kilt.
I don’t know how Celtic Croft finds items like this — good quality at a great price. That’s why I come back for gifts and I appreciate their support of Highland Fesitvals!
