The Crest in Detail
This kilt pin features the official symbol of Ireland, the Irish harp. The crest of this Ireland kilt pin features a harp that has a soundbox in the shape of a woman’s torso and head, and it reads “Ireland”. The Irish harp represents Irish resistance against England. The last High King of Ireland in 1014, Brian Boru, allegedly played the harp. Because of this, Minnesota’s Brian Boru Irish Pipe Band adopted the Irish harp as their symbol.
