Homespun Wool Blend Phillabeg – Lightweight, Rustic, and Historically Inspired
Whether you call it a phillabeg, phille-bheagh, feilidh-beag, or simply a little kilt, this traditional garment is perfect for warm-weather wear and summer events. The Homespun Wool Blend Phillabeg offers unmatched comfort, breathability, and freedom of movement—making it a favorite for Renaissance fairs, Highland games, reenactments, or casual Celtic gatherings.

The result is a soft, rustic tartan with minor natural flaws that enhance its historic appearance. The fabric drapes beautifully and pleats easily using included instructions—or opt for Cheater’s Pleats™ for added convenience.

Sizing:
A 4-yard kilt will fit up to about a 34-inch waist, a 5-yard kilt will fit up to about a 44-inch waist, and a 6-yard kilt will fit up to about a 50-inch waist. If you are larger than this please contact us for pricing on larger kilts. Also, If your waist size is close to one of these limits, consider the next size larger if you want deeper pleats or pleats closer together. For example:
If you have a 34-inch waist, a 4-yard phillabeg will have pleats 1.5 - 2 inches wide and 3-4 inches deep. A 5-yard phillabeg will have pleats approximately 1 inch wide and 3-4 inches deep or 1.5 - 2 inches wide and 6-8 inches deep. In this example, a 6-yard kilt would be overkill with a 34-inch waist, but it would have pleats about 1 inch wide and 6-8 inches deep.
How to measure for your Phillabeg:
1) Measure the waist size at your actual waist, where you usually wear your pants.
2) Measure from your waist to about the middle of the knee.
Have someone help you. If you bend even a little while trying to do it yourself, the measurement will change.

Color, quality, and value are excellent. Just a bit too warm for me here in Northeast Florida. Looking forward to the Fall and Winter. Would absolutely recommend.

Review from Travis C
I had already purchased and worn the Ancient Kilt, but I wanted something that I could wear in a more casual way. This Phillabeg was the perfect solution. I intentionally purchased it without pleats and in the homespun wool fabric so that it was a bit more authentic. (And because I was tired of buying utility type kilts that ended up being too big or small when I gained or lost weight) With the fold it yourself style, I can make this fit the way I want on any given day. And, the process of folding and the laying on the fabric in order to belt it up, makes me feel like I have a connection with the Scots of old. (Where's my Claymore?) My opinion is that you can't go wrong with this kilt, it looks and feels authentic. Just keep in mind, dry clean only.
