Featuring the rustic colors and historic weave that define the OUTLANDER collection, this kilt offers a lighter, cooler, and more practical alternative to the Great Kilt—perfect for Renaissance fairs, Highland games, or warm-weather wear.
The Ancient Kilt is an 18th-century Highlander’s solution for comfort and mobility. Made from single-width tartan (up to 30" wide) with an added 2–3 yards that drapes over the shoulder, this garment gives you the same Highland look as a Great Kilt—without the extra bulk above the belt. Traditionally hand-pleated with each wear, you can also opt for our Cheater Pleats™ for added convenience.
Each kilt is handmade in the USA using official OUTLANDER tartan fabric, woven in Scotland with a hopsack plain weave and a light natural wash to recreate the style of 18th-century looms. This is the same tartan fabric used on screen—now custom-crafted just for you.

How to Measure:

Kilt Waist: Measure at your actual waist (where you wear your pants); this will usually be 2–4 inches larger than your pants size.

Kilt Length: Measure from waist to the middle of your knee. Have someone help you for accuracy.
NOTE: We gather your size to ensure proper fit, but will only pleat the kilt if you select Cheater Pleats™.
