Crafted from a durable 12oz poly/viscose tartan woven in a hopsack plain weave and washed for a natural, rustic finish, this plaid mimics the appearance of traditional wool while remaining lightweight and itch-free. Available in two generous sizes—Standard and X-Large—each fly plaid features a soft fringed edge and finished selvages for an authentic Highland look.

About the Official OUTLANDER Tartans
The OUTLANDER poly/viscose tartan is ideal for anyone allergic to wool or looking for a lower-cost alternative that still looks authentic. To the untrained eye, this synthetic blend is nearly indistinguishable from 100% wool tartan. Scottish millers weave the fabric in a hopsack plain weave and wash it for a natural, historical texture. The finished selvage and 12oz weight make it perfect for traditional fly plaids and kilts.
How to Wear a Fly Plaid
Traditionally worn as a men’s dress accessory, the fly plaid is brooched at the shoulder and draped down the back. Choose the same fabric as your kilt for a coordinated, authentic appearance. Standard finishing includes fringe on the cut ends and woven selvage on the other two sides. Custom finishing options are available upon request.
