Experience the authentic look and feel of OUTLANDER: The Series with our Premium Wool Phillabeg, crafted from the exact same 100% wool tartan fabric woven for the show. This tartan is produced by the original Scottish weaver in a 12oz hopsack plain weave, washed for a natural, historic appearance—identical to the garments worn on screen.
Each Phillabeg (“little kilt”) is custom-made by us in the USA using single-width tartan woven in Scotland. Lightweight, flexible, and incredibly comfortable, the Phillabeg offers maximum freedom of movement and is perfect for warm-weather wear, reenactments, Highland festivals, or completing your OUTLANDER-inspired look. Pleating instructions are included, or you can add optional Cheater Pleats™ for a ready-to-wear convenience upgrade.

What’s a Phillabeg?
The Phillabeg (phille-bheagh, feilidh-beag, or “little kilt”) is a traditional Highland garment worn prior to the tailored kilt. Made from single-width tartan (up to 30 inches wide), it is pleated each time it’s worn and secured with a belt—lighter and cooler than a Great Kilt, without the bulk of extra fabric above the waist.

Traditional Pleating
Pleating instructions are included. Lay the kilt out flat, hand-pleat to size, wrap around your waist, and secure with your belt—simple, authentic, and historically accurate.
Cheater Pleats™
If you prefer not to pleat each time, choose Cheater Pleats™. We will pre-pleat and stitch a hidden waistband into your kilt. Standard style is pleat-to-sett with light ironing. For custom pleating options, select “Custom” and add the Cheater Pleats™ product to your order.
Sizing
4-yard phillabeg — fits up to ~34" waist
5-yard phillabeg — fits up to ~44" waist
6-yard phillabeg — fits up to ~54" waist
(Larger sizes available upon request.)
Pleats will vary between 1–2 inches wide depending on waist size. If you are close to a size limit, size up for deeper or closer pleats.
How to Measure
Kilt Waist: Measure around your natural waist (typically 2–4" larger than pants size).
Kilt Length: Measure from your waist to the middle of your knee.
(Have someone assist—bending changes the measurement.)
